{"id":35409,"date":"2026-08-11T11:26:45","date_gmt":"2026-08-11T05:56:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.sbmjckgf.in\/wordpress\/?p=35409"},"modified":"2026-08-11T11:26:45","modified_gmt":"2026-08-11T05:56:45","slug":"report-on-visit-to-gkvk-bengaluru","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sbmjckgf.in\/wordpress\/2026\/08\/11\/report-on-visit-to-gkvk-bengaluru\/","title":{"rendered":"REPORT ON VISIT TO GKVK, BENGALURU"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Department of Life Science, Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer &nbsp;Jain First Grade College , KGF organized an educational visit to Gandhi Krishi Vigyana Kendra (GKVK), University of Agricultural Sciences, Bengaluru, on 7<sup>th<\/sup> August 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The main objective of the visit was to provide with practical exposure to the applications of biotechnology in horticulture, plant tissue culture, mushroom cultivation&nbsp; and biofertilizer technology. The visit helped students relate the theoretical concepts learned in classrooms to their practical applications in agriculture, plant propagation, mushroom cultivation and sustainable crop production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The students gained an understanding of the major stages involved in micro propagation:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Selection of suitable plant material or explants<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Surface sterilization<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Preparation of culture medium<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Inoculation under aseptic conditions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Shoot multiplication<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Root induction<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hardening and acclimatization<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Transfer of plants to soil or growing conditions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The students were able to understand the importance of maintaining aseptic conditions to prevent microbial contamination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the major highlights of the visit was learning about plant tissue culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The students gained an understanding of the major stages involved in micropropagation:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Selection of suitable plant material or
