The Second year students of Life Science Department actively participated in group discussion on Environmental Pollution and its preventive measures on 5th Aug 2022.
The science club organized the National Science Day on 28th February 2020 for B.Sc students on the theme “Women in Science” .The chief guest Dr Rekha Sethi, Principal, and SBMJC, KGF addressed the gathering on the role of science in day to day life and role of in women in science and technology. Students presented power point presentation on women scientists and their contributions. Various competitions were conducted and students actively participated and won the prizes in quiz, collage, color your imagination, identify me, chrom art and face painting.
The Department of Life Sciences observed World Cancer Day on 4th Feb 2020”.This year’s theme for world cancer day is – I am and I will and it highlight the value of every individual to fight against cancer .The Flash Mob was performed by the B.Sc Biotechnology students to raise awareness of cancer and its prevention among the students and teaching community of SBMJC, KGF.
The Department of Science, SBMJC,KGF organized National workshop on The Role of IPR in Business and Research in association with Visvesvaraya Trade Promotion Centre, Bangaluru,& Karnataka State council for science and technology ,IISc campus,Bangaluru on 10th October 2018. Chief guest Dr T.D Kemparaju, Vice Chancellor, Bangalore North University addressed about the higher education in our daily life and the good communication skill for placements and the Guest of Honor Dr B T Venkatesh, Director, Advisor Examination, Jain University were present on the occasion. The Principal Dr. Rekha Sethi felicitated the Vice chancellor.
Smt Prabhavathi Rao,IP initiatives,VTPC,dept of industries and commerce Govt of Karnataka started with the inaugural and theme facilitation on the IPR in oneself and its importance in day to day life with live examples and stressed on respecting others Intellectual property . She also emphasized the present generation need to shift focus on IPR. Mr Vivek Anand Sagar Consultant and IP Attoney Patent information centre,KSCST,IISc,Campus stated that networking is very much necessary in order to facilitate the process of promoting Intellectual Property and explained about the copy right importance in protecting the expressions but can acquired ideas with examples of epics if India and had a good interaction followed with the resource person Mr. S G Mohan , Parent Information centre ,KSCST, IISc campus ,Bangalore shared the objectives, provisions and rights involved in Intellectual Property, life cycles of innovations and protection of copy right . Mr.Prasanna Kumar Asst.Prof. Sri Kengal Hanumanthaya Law College.K,G,F spoke about the inherent intellect to produce new works. It is the law of nature to reward the person with his labour for his inventions and he categorized intellectual property rights.
National Nutrition Week is celebrated each year from 1st to 7th September to aware the people about important tips of their health and well-being. The national nutrition week celebration is to educate people to maintain their look and feel better.
The Department of Life Sciences is observing National Nutrition week from 1st September to 7th September at SBMC KGF. The objective of the National nutrition week is to enhance the nutritional practice among faculty member and students community of SBMJC KGF through the various activities. The following activities planned and executed to bring an awareness about the importance of nutrients in our day to day life .
1st September 2k18 – Inaugural session

The Guest addressed the gathering about the role of nutrients for Healthy life. She also interacted with the students with few queries and discussed the same with the students.
3rd September 2k18; Collage Making and Pick N Speak competitions conducted for B.Sc, BGB Biotechnology students to sensitize the students about the role of macronutrients and micronutrients and their role in the maintenance of good health.

Exhibition is conducted for the students and faculty members of SBMJC,K.G.F and various models exhibited to showcase about the sources of macro and micronutrients , deficiency and symptoms. The objective of the exhibition is to bring an awareness about the nutrients present in the diet in our day to day life.
The department of Life Sciences observed National Nutrition Week from 1st to 7th September to bring awareness on health tips.The objectives are
1. To review the frequency of problem to various diet and nutrition in the communities.
2. To aware people through the activities such as exhibition,guest lecture,outreach programme and road rally.
DAY – 1
In order to observe National Nutrition Week the first day started with inauguration and exhibition with the chief guest Dr Rekha Sethi our Principal.She addressed the gathering about the applications of life sciences in our day to day life and also encouraged the students to update the knowledge on the same.
The students of B,Sc Biotechnology actively participated in exhibition and exhibited the role of nutrients in healthy in lively manner. Students and faculty members of various streams visited the exhibition and gained knowledge on diet and health.
DAY – 2
The second day started in order to observe National Nutrition Week ,the department conducted vegetable carving and fruit and vegetable salad preparation Competition to all degree students on 4th September 2017 . The vegetable carving was judged by Mr Tony, Head Department of Management and Dr Rajanna, Dept of Kannada. The Fruit and vegetable carving was judged by Principal Dr Rekha Sethi ,Ms Anni Aruna Kumari ,Department of English and Ms Savitha ,Libraarian The students activity participated in the competition.
DAY – 3
To observe National Nutrition Week. the third day 5th September 2017 was observed with Guest Lecture Ms Aishwaryia, Senior Dietician, Manipal Hospital,Bangalore.She addressed the gathering about the diet, food of different ages and nutrients in eating habit .Students and faculty members interacted with many queries.
DAY – 4
To observe National Nutrition Week. the fourth day 6th September 2017 was observed with outreach programmed conducted at Concordia Higher Primary school, Oorgaum KGF.Our students and faculty members discussed about the daily food habits and nutritive value.
DAY – 5
To observe National Nutrition Week. the fifth day 7th September 2017 conducted Road Rally with our Principal Dr Rekha Sethi, Faculty members and students to bring awareness on Health and Diet for public at KGF.
