Event Description:

As a part of Academic Activity of the Department, Orientation Programme was organized for the first semester Degree students of all the following Courses (BBA, BCA, B.Com, BSc-BGB & BSc-PMCs) at Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain First Grade College K.G.F The major objective of the Orientation Programme was to make the students understand the Academic aspects of the Library. Students attended the programme with good concentration and we took the feedbacks & we have attached the photos below.

In this Orientation Programme the Librarian deliberated words of advice & suggestions to the 1^st year students on the following points:

• A Small introduction about the Library & good briefing by the Librarian & Library Admin about the Services provided by the Library.
• The Resources available in our library and how the students can utilize it.
• Explained about the SC/ST Book Bank which is available in our Library.

• The availability of extra cards based on two options i.e. Merit & SC/ST Category.
• Rules & Regulations of the department of Library.
• The Importance of the Library hour in the regular class time table.
• Providing extra Library hour for the students every day and during the Examination time.
• Importance of utilizing the books for reading & studying purposes.
• An introduction about the Reprographic Centre.
• The facilities available in the library for the students and staffs.
• The strategic plans of library for the upcoming days.

  A brief write up of the programme:

          The Library and Information Centre of Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain First Grade College K.G.F, organized a Book Week from 07/11/2025 to 17/11/2025. The programme was inaugurated with the auspicious hands of our beloved principal Dr. Rekha Sethi. The main motive of the programme is to promote the use of books as well as the Library among the students, faculty members and Administrative staff of the college.

By conducting this Book Week we provide information like what kind of books are available in the Library. We have displayed the Reference Books of BCA, BBA, B.Com, BSc-PMCs and BSc-BGB, Languages, Dictionaries, Journals, Magazines, Newspapers, Cd’s, Commerce books, M.Com dissertation,
SC/ST Book Bank, Rare Books, Competitive exam books, Common Entrance Test (CET) Books, Bound Back Volumes.

Books create a good moral human being as well as create transformation in human life about the future. This awareness is created by the department of Library and Information Centre. The Book Week was successful by the contribution of all students, faculty members and administrative staff of Library. The feedback form is collected from students and faculty members are maintained and suggestions are accepted.

On July 8, 2025, an NPTEL-SWAYAM orientation was organized for first-year B.Com and BBA students in the Conference Hall, attended by 150 students. The event aimed to introduce them to the benefits of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) and the National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) platform.

Key highlights of the session included:

1. Introduction to MOOCs and NPTEL: Mr. Harish, Assistant Professor and SPOC member, explained the concept of MOOCs and NPTEL, highlighting their importance in enhancing students’ knowledge and skills.
2. Benefits of certificate courses: The session emphasized the value of NPTEL’s certificate courses, which can supplement regular coursework and boost employability.
3. Course list and timeline: Students were informed about the available courses, timelines, and schedules, helping them plan their learning journey effectively.
4. Motivation and guidance: Dr. Kasturi, Head of the Department of Commerce, presided over the program and motivated students to make the most of NPTEL resources and take ownership of their learning.
5. Senior students shared their learning experiences and motivated others to take the course.

By participating in this orientation, students gained a clearer understanding of the NPTEL platform and its potential to enrich their academic experience.

Additionally, a similar orientation was organized for first year BCA, BSC, BGP, and PMCS students in the Auditorium on July 14, 2025. Around 140 students attended the program, which was presided over byMadam Chitra S., Assignment Professor from the Department of Computer Science, and Madam Abiyal J.S., Assistant Professor from the Department of Physical Science. They guided students on how to effectively leverage online resources for academic growth.
