Eco Club SBMJC, KGF observed world soil day on 5th December 2025. The theme is “Healthy soils for healthy cities”.
Soil Testing Drive
In order to bring an awareness among the youth, the Club organized soil test drive. The soil samples were collected from agricultural field, Cyanide dumps, Park, construction area, In house garden of SBMJC, KGF.
The students Checked the pH, colour and texture of the soil. The pH ranged from slightly acidic to neutral. The soils collected from agricultural field and in house garden showed neutral pH. Agricultural soil and in-house plants pot soil is identified as black in color due to the presence of organic mannure which is suitable for plants growth.
Model making competition*
30 students actively participated in Model Making (clay) Competition. Students prepared and displayed eco friendly utensils, biological systems and sports items. This competition brings an awareness on the importance of soil in our day to day life and an alternative for the usage of plastic products.
