Polio Eradication is a nationwide public health initiative aimed at protecting children from the life-threatening poliomyelitis disease. As a part of this social responsibility, NCC cadets and the Care Taker Officer (CTO) of Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain First Grade College, KGF actively volunteered in the Polio Eradication Drive conducted on 21st December 2025.
Participation and Activities
The NCC cadets, under the guidance of the CTO, rendered dedicated service at various local Anganwadi centres and Health Care centres in and around KGF. The cadets assisted health workers in:
- Administering oral polio drops to children below five years of age
- Managing queues and ensuring systematic flow of beneficiaries
- Helping in registration and record maintenance
- Supporting medical staff to ensure smooth and safe administration of the vaccine
Awareness and Social Responsibility
Apart from assisting in vaccination, the NCC cadets also played a vital role in spreading awareness about polio eradication. They interacted with parents and guardians, educating them on:
- The importance of polio vaccination
- The safety and necessity of repeated doses
- The role of community participation in making India polio-free
The cadets encouraged hesitant parents and helped dispel myths related to polio vaccination, thereby strengthening public confidence in the programme.
Outcome
The active involvement of NCC cadets significantly contributed to the successful implementation of the Polio Eradication Drive. Their discipline, enthusiasm, and sense of service ensured effective coordination with health officials and smooth execution of the programme.
The Polio Eradication Drive on 21/12/2025 was a meaningful and impactful experience for the NCC cadets of Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain First Grade College, KGF. The programme reinforced the NCC motto “Unity and Discipline” and instilled a strong sense of social responsibility, leadership, and community service among the cadets. The college proudly acknowledges the sincere efforts of the NCC cadets and the CTO in contributing to this noble national mission.
