Today On 02 February 2026, World Wetlands Day was observed at Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain First Grade College, KGF with a Tree Plantation Programme, highlighting the importance of wetlands, biodiversity conservation, and environmental sustainability.
The programme was conducted with the active participation of the NCC cadets, under the guidance of the college authorities. The event was graced by Dr. Rekha Sethi, Principal, Shri Narashimha Murthy, Accounts Head, and Dr. Mayur A. Wadeyar, CTO, whose presence encouraged and motivated the cadets.
As part of the programme, saplings were planted within the college campus. The dignitaries and NCC cadets jointly planted trees, symbolizing collective responsibility towards environmental protection and ecological balance. The activity emphasized the role of tree plantation in preserving wetlands, maintaining groundwater levels, and combating climate change.
The programme successfully created awareness among students about the significance of wetlands and the need for sustainable environmental practices. The enthusiastic participation of NCC cadets reflected their commitment to social service and environmental conservation, in line with the NCC motto “Unity and Discipline.”
The event concluded with a message on nurturing the planted saplings and continuing such eco-friendly initiatives in the future.
