The Student Welfare Council of Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain First Grade College, K.G.F., organized an impactful Cancer Awareness Session titled “BATTLE AGAINST CANCER” on 28th July 2025. The primary objective of the session was to educate and sensitize students about cancer, its early signs, prevention strategies, and the importance of timely medical intervention.

The resource person for the session was Dr. Neha S. Shellikeri, a renowned Oncologist holding MBBS, MS in General Surgery, and MCh in Surgical Oncology. Dr. Neha delivered a powerful and informative presentation that covered various types of cancer, risk factors, symptoms, diagnostic techniques, and the latest advancements in cancer treatment. Her insightful talk emphasized the role of awareness, lifestyle choices, and regular screening in the early detection and successful treatment of cancer.

The session was further enriched by the presence of  Dr. Manjula BK, Head of the Kannada Department, who shared her reflections on the importance of health education among youth. Dr. L. Jayapandian, IQAC Officer and NSS Officer, also addressed the gathering, highlighting the relevance of such health initiatives in educational institutions and their impact on community well-being.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members. The interactive Q\&A session that followed enabled the attendees to clarify their doubts and gain deeper insights into cancer-related issues.

The Student Welfare Council expresses its heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Neha S. Shellikeri for her valuable contribution and to all dignitaries for their active involvement in making the session a grand success.

Conclusion

The Cancer Awareness Session proved to be a highly engaging and informative event. It successfully instilled awareness among students about one of the most critical health issues of our times. The Student Welfare Council (SWC) of Jain College, KGF successfully conducted the elections for the new Board of Directors (BOD) for the academic year 2025–2026. The elections were held through an online voting system on 24th July 2025, ensuring transparency, inclusiveness, and active student participation.

The announcement of the newly elected members was made by the respected Principal, Dr. Rekha Sethi, in the presence of SWC Officer Mr. Praveen N and SWC Coordinator Mr. Changareddy.

  • Foster a Supportive Environment: Create a safe and non-judgmental space for students to discuss their mental health concerns and receive support from peers and dental professionals.

  • Improved Mental Health: Students are more aware of mental health issues and better equipped to manage stress, anxiety, and depression, leading to improved oral health outcomes.
  • Increased Help-Seeking Behavior: Students are more likely to seek help for mental health concerns, reducing the risk of dental problems and improving overall well-being.

OBJECTIVES :

  • To understand the importance of dressing professionally and modestly in a college settings.
  • Familiarize oneself with college dress code policies and expectations.
  • Learn about college etiquette and norms for interacting with peers and faculty.
  • Develop confidence and self-expression through appropriate dressing and behaviour.
  • Understand the role of attire and etiquette in personal and profession growth.

EXPECTED OUT COMES:

  • Participants are aware of the college dr5ess code and etiquette expectations.
  • Participants can dress professionally and confidently.
  • Improve interactions and relationship among peers and faculty members’
  • Enhance self-expression and confidence.

CONCLUSION: These objectives aim to promote a positive and respectful environment within the college community.

Orientation Program BBA-2025

The Department of Business Administration at Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain First Grade College, KGF, organized orientation program for I sem BBA students on July 7th, 2025. The program started with The Department’s activities, including academic curriculum, Internship, and other initiatives, were highlighted to give students a clear understanding of what to expect. Additionally, the career opportunities available to BBA Undergraduates were discussed, providing students with insights into potential career paths and industry expectations. About 52 students participated in the event.

Dr. Tony Lazarus Prem Kumar J, Head of the Department of Business Administration, presided over the program, offering valuable Insight, guidance and encouragement to the students.
