Anti-Ragging Cell Inauguration and Awareness Program

The Anti-Ragging Cell Inauguration and Awareness Program was organized at Sri Bhagwan Mahaveer Jain First Grade College, KGF on 12th August 2025 with the objective of promoting a ragging-free campus and educating students about the serious consequences of ragging. The program began with a formal welcome address, followed by the inauguration of the Anti-Ragging Cell.

The event was graced by Chief Guest Mr. Naveen, Circle Inspector of Police Robertsonpet Circle, KGF who delivered an inspiring speech highlighting the importance of maintaining discipline, mutual respect, and a friendly environment in educational institutions. He also explained the legal provisions and punishments under the Anti-Ragging Act, emphasizing that ragging is a punishable offense that can have long-lasting effects on both victims and offenders.

The Principal, Dr.Rekha Sethi presided over the function and reiterated the institution’s zero-tolerance policy towards ragging. she advised students to actively participate in creating a safe and inclusive campus and assured that the Anti-Ragging Cell would always be available to address any grievances.

The program also featured an awareness session that included case studies, real-life examples, and interactive discussions where students expressed their views and concerns. The event concluded with all participants taking the Anti-Ragging Pledge, affirming their commitment to uphold dignity, safety, and respect among peers.

Outcome: The session successfully sensitized students about the seriousness of ragging and reinforced the commitment of the institution to ensure a ragging-free campus.

Around 400 students from different streams and faculty member were participated in this event.

Introduction

The Anti-Ragging Cell of Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain First Grade College,KGF organized an orientation program aimed at raising awareness about ragging, its consequences, and the institution’s policies to combat it. The program was designed to foster a safe and inclusive environment for new students.

Objectives

  • To educate students about the detrimental effects of ragging.
  • To inform students about the legal implications and institutional policies against ragging.
  • To promote a culture of respect and camaraderie among students.

Program Highlights

  1. Welcome Address:
    The program commenced with a welcome address by the Co-ordinator of the Anti-Ragging Cell, Mr. Muniraja D K and a a brief introduction about Anti-Ragging Cell, and also explained about filling out the Anti-Ragging Online-Affidavit Form Filling for the students.
  2.  Speakers:
    Mr. Siddarama.S HOD of Computer Science, shared his insights on the impact of ragging on individuals and the community. He highlighted real-life cases and the psychological consequences faced by victims.
  3.  Mr. Tony Lazarus Prem Kumar J HOD of Management Studies gave detailed presentation outlined the institution’s anti-ragging policies, including reporting mechanisms and support systems available for victims. Information on legal actions against perpetrators was also provided.

Conclusion

The orientation program organized by the Anti-Ragging Cell was a significant step toward fostering a respectful and safe educational environment. By equipping students with knowledge and resources, the institution is committed to preventing ragging and promoting a positive campus culture.

Orientation Programme on Anti-Ragging and Online-Affidavit Form Filling

The Anti-Ragging Cell organized an orientation program on anti-ragging and online affidavit form filling for I BCA students on September 19, 2024.

Mr. Muniraja D. K., Assistant Professor Department of Physics and Coordinator of Anti-Ragging Cell, gave a brief introduction about Anti-Ragging Cell, about ragging and its consequences and legal actions against the students who indulged in ragging and also explained about filling out the Anti-Ragging Form affidavit for students.

Around 160 students from BCA class and faculty members were present.

Awareness Program on Drug Abuse

The  IQAC and Anti-Drug cell of SBMJFGC, KGF in association Excise Department, Bangarpet, organized an awareness program on “Drug Menance” on the theme “The evidence is clear: Invest in prevention”, on 26th August 2024.

The program was hosted by Ms. Aruna N. Asst. Prof, Department of Mathematics, Welcome speech given by Mr. Praveen SWA Officer, followed by the inaugural speech by Dr. Rekha Sethi, Principal, Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain First Grade College, KGF.

Resource Person Ms. Prakruti P Jain, Sub Inspector of Excise Department, Bangarpet, spoke about the drug abuse by young people and its dangerous impact to themselves, family, friends, and society. She also added that the long-term use of alcohol or drugs, as well as addiction to either, can have a negative impact on a person’s ability to interact socially.

Chief Guest Mr. Ramesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Excise Department, Kolar District, spoke that drug addiction can cause serious long –term consequences including problems with physical and mental health, relationships, employment and the law.

Programme to fill online Anti Ragging Affidavit Form

Anti Ragging Cell organized a programme to fill the online Anti Ragging Affidavit form for 1st year degree students on 26/05/2023. Mr. Muniraja D K, Coordinator and Asst Professor, Department of Physical Science, explained the filling of online Anti- Ragging Affidavit Form, Mr. Prakash, Asst Professor, Department of Management Studies, spoke on consequences of ragging & action taken under the law against whom rag in the college, Mr. Umesh, Member, Asst Professor, Department of Computer Science supported in filling the online form and 150 students were present.
