World Suicide Prevention Day 2025

Counseling Centre Observed that “ World Suicide Prevention Day 2025 on 10th September 2025″ awareness program organized for second year degree students on 10th September 2025 at 11.15 am to 12.15pm in the Auditorium

 Dr. Rekha Sethi Principal, SBMJC, KGF delivered On World Suicide Prevention Day, Dr. L. Jayapandian IQAC Co-Ordinator SBMJC, KGF Office Superintendent Babu SBMJCE, KGF and Faculty Members were present.

World Suicide Prevention Day :-

  • World Suicide Prevention Day (WSPD) is observed on 10th September every year.
  • Established in 2003 by the International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP) and WHO.
  • Aims to raise awareness and prevent suicide globally.

Purpose of WSPD:-

  • Raise awareness about suicide as a public health issue.
  • Reduce stigma around mental health.
  • Promote prevention efforts and support for those struggling.
  • Encourage governments, organizations, and individuals to act.

Activities on WSPD:-

  • Awareness campaigns, workshops, and social media drives.
  • Candlelight vigils and remembrance events.
  • Educational programs in schools, colleges, and workplaces.
  • Encouraging people to reach out and support others.

Key Facts of WSPD:-

  • More than 700000 People die by suicide every year worldwide(WHO data).
  • Suicide in one of the leading causes of death among young people (15-59 years).
  • Many suicides are preventable with timely support, awareness, and mental health care.

Total number of students and faculties benefited in the programme is 130 ( Faulty Member 05, B.Com 64 BBA 56 and BCA 10)

Orientation Programme On Counseling Centre And Grievances Cell

Counseling Centre Grievance Cell conducted Orientation Programme on  for Ist Year I Sem BCA (A and B Section) and B.Sc( BGB and PMCs) students on 21th July  2025 at 10.00 am in the Auditorium and for Ist Year I Sem B.Com and BBA on 21th July  2025  at 12.10 pm in the Auditorium.

Jayapandian IQAC Coordinator SBMFGC, KGF Given Highlighted Importance of Counselling and Grievance Cell. Mr.Changareddy S Counseling Centre Officer, SBMFGC, KGF delivered On Orientation Programme, SWC Officer and Faculty Member were present.

Meaning of Counseling:-

Counselling refers to the process of providing guidance, support, and advice to individuals or groups who may be facing personal, emotional, psychological, or interpersonal challenges. It is a form of talk therapy, it will give advice or professional help to resolve personal or psychological problems. It is a purposeful learning oriented and private interview between the counselor and counselee. It is the individualized and personalized assistance with personal, educational, vocational problems. It is the process where an students meet with a trained professional counselor to talk about their academic and personal issues.

 Objective:

  • To Organize awareness programme for students in suitable concepts.
  • To achieve positive mental health
  • Resolve their academic and personal issues and put them on right track with confident.
  • To encourage students to develop special abilities and right attitudes.
  • To establish mutual understanding between Counselor and Counselee

Outcomes:

  • Helps people to move towards their goals.
  • It enhances their overall wellbeing & takes the initiative of putting back the students on the right track.
  • It created positive mind set towards the students.
  • The motivational speech created how to face the personal & inter personal problems in the society.

Total number of students and faculties benefited in the programme is 260 ( Faulty Member 10, B.Com 66 BBA 54 and B.SC 10 and  BCA 120 )
