National Science Day-2025

National Science Day is celebrated in India on 28th February every year with a theme to mark the discovery of the Raman Effect by Indian physicist Sir. Chandrashekara Venkata Raman on 28th February 1928. The theme for the present year 2025 is “Empowering lndian Youth for Global Leadership in Science & lnnovation for Viksit Bharat”.

Science Club of Science Departments organized National Science Day on 28th February 2025. To raise awareness about the celebration, a Flash Mob was organized on 27th February 2025, which added excitement and engagement to the event. On the occasion of the celebration, the Chief Guest was Dr. Rekha Sethi, Principal SBMJC, KGF, and Mr. Kalai Chalvan, Head, Department of Physical Science and Secretary of the Science Club. Dr. Rekha Sethi spoke about the innovations in Genetics and its importance. Mr. Kalai Chalvan spoke about the innovations in space technology, defense, and biotechnology in India. Twelve competitions were organized on the day for B.Sc. (PMCs and BGB), BCA, B.Com, and BBA students, with about 200 students participating in one or more competitions. Prizes and certificates were distributed to the winners.

AN AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON “CAREER AS A COMPANY SECRETARY”

The Student Welfare Council (SWC) organized  AN AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON “CAREER AS A COMPANY SECRETARY”  to B.Com and BBA students

Event Highlights:

  • Introduction to the Profession: CS Anirudha Barik provided an overview of the Company Secretary profession, explaining its importance in corporate governance, legal compliance, and corporate law.
  • Educational Pathway: The resource person highlighted the academic qualifications required to become a CS, including details on the different stages of the Company Secretary course, exams, and professional training.
  • Skills Required: CS. Barik discussed the key skills a successful CS needs, such as legal acumen, communication skills, analytical thinking, and the ability to work with top management.
  • Career Opportunities: The session also covered the wide range of career opportunities available to CS professionals in both private and public sectors, including roles in legal firms, corporate entities, government bodies, and as independent consultants.
  • Challenges and Rewards: CS Barik shared insights into the challenges one might face in the profession, such as staying updated with laws and regulations. He also emphasized the personal satisfaction and career growth that come with the role.

Interaction with Students: The session was interactive, with students asking insightful questions about the day-to-day responsibilities of a CS, career prospects, and the challenges in the field. CS Anirudha Barik addressed all queries with clarity and provided valuable guidance to students considering this career path.

Conclusion: The programme was a great success, providing students with a thorough understanding of what it takes to pursue a career as a Company Secretary. It not only helped them understand the qualifications and skills required but also shed light on the rewarding nature of the profession. Many students showed a keen interest in further exploring the path to becoming a CS.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks to the resource person and the organizing team for their efforts in making the session informative and engaging.
