DRUG AWARENEESS PROGRAM

A Drug Awareness Program was recently held at Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain First Grade College on 16th September 2025. The event, organized by the Anti-Drug Cell,

Anti-Drug Cell is dedicated to creating a drug-free campus by promoting awareness and prevention of substance abuse. It strives to provide guidance, counselling, and support to students, ensuring a healthy and safe environment.

Anti-drug awareness program aim to educate the students and public about the dangers of drug use and promote healthy living.

Awareness Programs are conducted to sensitize the student community on the harmful effects on drug & alcohol addiction. Digital addiction which is an upcoming common issue is also discussed and awareness on harmful effects of screen addiction is facilitated.

Objectives:

Organize programs, workshops, and campaigns that educate the public, particularly youth, about the risks of drug use, the signs of addiction, and the available support systems for recovery    

Resource person Sri Pushpa Sub Inspector of Exercise give a speech about, preventing substance abuse and intervening early can make a big difference. Educating young people about the dangers of drugs and alcohol, as well as promoting healthy ways to cope with stress and problems, can help reduce the risk of addiction

    The Art of Selfcare by Rotaract

    The Rotaract Club of SBMJC-KGF successfully conducted a Community Service Initiative titled “The Art of Wellness.”The event was graced by the presence of Mr. Manjesh Param, a professional wellness and nutrition coach.

    The session highlighted the significance of a balanced diet in maintaining overall health. Mr. Manjesh emphasized the role of self-care practices for mental and emotional well-being.

    The importance of regular physical exercise was discussed to improve fitness and prevent lifestyle diseases. Participants learned about the different types of wellness, including physical, mental, social, and spiritual wellness.

    The coach also guided students on adopting healthy food habits for sustainable health. The initiative aimed at creating awareness on holistic well-being and encouraging a healthier lifestyle.

    Both students and faculty members actively participated, interacted, and gained valuable knowledge from the session.

    World Suicide Prevention Day 2025

    Counseling Centre Observed that “ World Suicide Prevention Day 2025 on 10th September 2025″ awareness program organized for second year degree students on 10th September 2025 at 11.15 am to 12.15pm in the Auditorium

     Dr. Rekha Sethi Principal, SBMJC, KGF delivered On World Suicide Prevention Day, Dr. L. Jayapandian IQAC Co-Ordinator SBMJC, KGF Office Superintendent Babu SBMJCE, KGF and Faculty Members were present.

    World Suicide Prevention Day :-

    • World Suicide Prevention Day (WSPD) is observed on 10th September every year.
    • Established in 2003 by the International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP) and WHO.
    • Aims to raise awareness and prevent suicide globally.

    Purpose of WSPD:-

    • Raise awareness about suicide as a public health issue.
    • Reduce stigma around mental health.
    • Promote prevention efforts and support for those struggling.
    • Encourage governments, organizations, and individuals to act.

    Activities on WSPD:-

    • Awareness campaigns, workshops, and social media drives.
    • Candlelight vigils and remembrance events.
    • Educational programs in schools, colleges, and workplaces.
    • Encouraging people to reach out and support others.

    Key Facts of WSPD:-

    • More than 700000 People die by suicide every year worldwide(WHO data).
    • Suicide in one of the leading causes of death among young people (15-59 years).
    • Many suicides are preventable with timely support, awareness, and mental health care.

    Total number of students and faculties benefited in the programme is 130 ( Faulty Member 05, B.Com 64 BBA 56 and BCA 10)

    Eye Donation Awareness Talk

    The Rotaract Club of SBMJC organized an Eye Donation Awareness talk and seminar, held at SBMJC KGF Auditorium on Saturday, August 30th 2025.
    The event featured a guest speaker, Dr. C.A. Muralidhar, MBBS, MS, Medical Director and Chief Ophthalmic Surgeon at Gautami Hospital, KGF, who shared valuable insights on eye donation and care.

    Dr. Muralidhar emphasized the significance of cornea transplant surgery and its impact on restoring vision for individuals in need. He also explained the eligibility criteria for eye donation, highlighting that anyone can be an eye donor, regardless of age or background.

    The event aimed to dispel myths and misconceptions about eye donation, encouraging attendees to pledge their eyes after death. President Rt. Naveenan from Rotary KGF Prime was present, adding to the event’s significance and reinforcing the importance of community service.

    The event saw participation from 200 members, who attended the seminar from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, gaining valuable knowledge and taking a step towards creating awareness about eye donation.

    TEACHERS DAY-2025

    Participants: 125 (Administrative staff, Teaching Staff of various departments and Students)

    The Student Welfare Council (SWC) had taken the initiative to organize a Teachers Day celebration at Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain First Grade College KGF on September 4, 2025, and the celebration began at 1:30 p.m. in the Auditorium.

    There were 97 faculty members and 28 students who participated. The program started with introduction by Ms. Femitha, SWC member and welcome speech by Ms.Bhavana SWC member along with lighting of a lamp song by Ms. Krithika and team. The program was hosted by Ms. Abhinaya, Ms.Bhagya Lakshmi, Ms. Ayesha and Ms. Sameera , President, Vice president , Treasurer, and Member of SWC respectively ,followed by the inaugural speech by Dr. Rekha Sethi, Principal Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain First Grade College KGF, and Mr. Murali Kumar, PUC coordinator, Mr. Babu office Superintendent, Mr. Vinoba , Assistant professor , Department of Economics and Dr. Sreenivas Prasad who spoke about the significance of Teachers.

    A few games have been organized to entertain such as Blind fold, Balancing the Ball, Straw and Water, Fashion Walk and Mr. & Ms. SBMJFGC. The program ended by vote of thanks by Ms. Caroline, SWC member.

    Food was served after the end of the celebration.
