The Department of Commerce organized a guest lecture on 21st April 2025 for the B.Com students on the topic “LEGAL ENVIRONMENT”. The session was graced by the esteemed resource person Mrs. Neha K. Metha, Advocate (LLB) known for her insightful understanding of business and commercial law.
The session aimed to provide students with a fundamental understanding of the legal framework surrounding the business environment in India. Mrs. Neha K Metha discussed key legal concepts including contract law, consumer protection, intellectual property rights, company law, and labour legislation. She emphasized the importance of legal awareness for commerce students and how legal compliance plays a vital role in ethical and successful business operations.
Mrs.Neha K Metha also interacted with students, addressing their queries related to real-world legal challenges businesses face today. Her practical examples and case study approach kept the session engaging and informative.
The lecture concluded with a vote of thanks, appreciating Mrs. Neha K Metha for her valuable contribution and the students for their active participation.
The session was a great success and proved to be an enriching experience for all the attendees.

The Department of Commerce, Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain First Grade College, Kolar Gold Fields (KGF), organized an educational court visit on 23rd April 2025 for the students of II Year B.Com. The visit aimed to provide practical exposure and insight into the functioning of the judicial system in India, as a part of the academic curriculum.
A total of 75 students, accompanied by 2 faculty members, visited the KGF TALUK COURT .The visit was planned to enhance the students to understanding of legal procedures, courtroom etiquette, and the various stages of trial proceedings.
During the visit, students had the opportunity to witness live court sessions including both civil and criminal cases. They observed how arguments are presented by advocates, how the judge manages court proceedings, and how verdicts are pronounced. The students found the experience highly enriching as it bridged the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-life
practice. The visit sparked meaningful discussions among the students about the importance of the legal system and its impact on commerce and business practices. The Department of Commerce extends its gratitude to the court authorities for allowing the visit and to the college management for their support in organizing the event.

The Student Welfare Council (SWC) of Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain College, KGF, successfully organized a Workshop on PGCET (Post Graduate Common Entrance Test) to support and guide aspiring students in their higher education journey. The event was a valuable initiative aimed at equipping students with the necessary information and strategies to excel in the competitive PGCET examination.
Mrs. Bindhu N brought her extensive knowledge and experience in the field of commerce and competitive examination training. Her insights into the structure, syllabus, and preparation techniques for the PGCET were highly beneficial for the students.
Workshop HighlightsOverview of PGCET: Mrs. Bindhu provided a detailed explanation of the PGCET examination, including eligibility criteria, exam pattern, marking scheme, and subject-wise syllabus.
Preparation Strategies: She discussed time management techniques, prioritization of subjects, and resources for effective preparation.
Mock Questions and Discussion: The workshop included interactive sessions where students practiced sample questions and received personalized feedback.
Career Guidance: The session also touched upon career opportunities available after pursuing postgraduate courses through PGCET.
Student Participation: The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation across various disciplines from various colleges such as DR.TTIT, Sri Adithya degree College, Amara Jyothi College, Navachethana degree College,, GFGC Bangarpet,, BIMS KOLAR. The students found the session informative and motivating, and many expressed a stronger sense of direction and confidence regarding their exam preparations.
Conclusion: The workshop was a creditable effort by the Student Welfare Council (SWC) and reflected the institution’s commitment to student development and academic success. Special appreciation goes to Mrs. Bindhu N for her enlightening session and to all faculty members and volunteers who contributed to the smooth conduct of the event.
The Eco Club observed World Earth Day with the theme Our power our planet on 22nd April 2025. The students were taken to King George Park to clean the garbage and to maintain hygienic environment for the public and children.
50 students and 2 faculty members actively participated in the clean up drive to promote environmental cleanliness.
