KANNADA RAJYOTSAVA – 2025

Kannada Rajyotsava, also known as Karnataka Formation Day or Karnataka Day, is celebrated

on 1st November of every year.

SBMJFGC. K.G.F celebrated the Kannada Rajyotsava with great joy and vigour on 1st November, 2025. The celebrations started with flag hoisting by dignitaries and the chief guest, the program was followed by invocation song by the student. The students and faculty member made the Rajyotsava ceremony a success by delivering speeches on the integration of Karnataka,

55 teaching and non-teaching staff, 20 students was participated.

Guest Lecture on ‘Tollugatti’ (Drama)

The Department of Kannada organised Guest Lecture on ‘Tollugatti’ (Drama) on 16th October, 2025.

The guest lecture inspired the students on the Modern Education System and T.P.Kailasam drama in the text prescribed by Bangalore North University for First Semester B.Com Students as per SEP.

The students gain knowledge on Moral, Ethical Values and a desire for an egalitarian society. 45 students and 03 faculty members participated in the Guest Lecture.

GUEST LECTURE on Shoodra Tapasvi and Jalagara

The Department of Kannada organised Guest Lecture on ‘Shoodra Tapasvi (Drama) on 26th September, 2025 and ‘Jalagara’ (Drama) on 27th September, 2025.

The guest lecture is based on the National Poet Kuvempu dramas in the text prescribed by Bangalore North University for First Semester BCA and B.Sc Students as per SEP.

The guest lecture is organized throw online mode and students gain knowledge on commitment to social justice and a desire for an egalitarian society. It’s inspired the students to approach Kuvempu Dramas for new avenues of learning.

55 students and 03 faculty members participated in the Guest lecture.

SINGING COMPITETION

The Department of Kannada, Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain First Grade College, K.G.F, Organized Kannada Singing Competition on 21ST  AUGUST 2025.

NATIONAL LEVEL CONFERENCE ON MODERN LITERATURE

     A one day National level conference on Modern literature was jointly organised by the Department of Kannada, Hindi and English on 24th April 2025.

The Chief Guest and the keynote speaker during the inaugural session was Dr. Mythili P Rao Academician and independent translator, former dean of languages, Jain (Deemed-to-be University) Bengaluru. She delivered an enlightening and meaningful address by distinguishing the terms modernity and modernism in learning various regional languages of our country which can assimilate the people together.

The inaugural session was presided by our principal Dr. Rekha Sethi who emphasized on the interdisciplinary approach to language in her message.

     This was followed by the parallel plenary sessions. Dr.Susheela, HOD of CDL and philosophy, Dravidian university Kuppam, Andhra Pradesh was the plenary speaker for the session conducted by Department of Kannada. She spoke on impact of regional languages in the study of modern literature.

    The plenary speaker for the parallel Hindi session was Dr.C.N.Hombali, professor in Hindi, Govt first grade college K.R.Puram Bengaluru. She presented the origin and importance of Hindi language in relevance with other languages.

   The plenary speaker for the parallel English session was Dr.C.Arulmugil Assistant professor in Sacred heart Degree College for women Bengaluru. She emphasized on the study of  English language as a secondary language and highlighted the growth of  English language from ancient times.

   After the small interval paper presentations in Kannada, Hindi and English were held in three separate venues. The faculty members and research scholars gave offline and online mode presentations. 40 faculty members and 85 Students actively participated in the Conference.
