National Mathematics Day is celebrated on December 22nd every year to commemorate the birth anniversary of Indian mathematical genius Srinivasa Ramanujan. This day honors his contributions to the field of mathematics and inspires future generations to explore the beauty and significance of mathematics. The Science Club of Science Departments celebrated National Mathematics Day on December 23, 2024. On this occasion, the guests were Dr. Rekha Sethi, Principal, Mr. Murali Kumar, PUC Coordinator, and Mr. Kalai Chalvan, Head, Department of Physical Science and Secretary of Science Club. Dr. Rekha Sethi spoke about the importance of mathematics. She emphasized how Srinivasa Ramanujan’s contribution to mathematics continues to inspire and influence the field and highlighted the various applications of mathematics in physics, chemistry, biology, and many other fields. Our guest of honor, Mr. Murali Kumar, spoke about the significance of mathematics in our daily lives, and Mr. Kalai Chalvan spoke about exploring the beauty and magic of mathematics beyond the confines of textbooks and developing a strong foundation in mathematics. Various competitions like Math Connection, Sudoku, Math Puzzle, Chrome Art, and Crossword were organized on the day at the intercollegiate level for B.Sc., B.Com., BBA, BCA, and PUC students. About 300 students participated in one or more competitions. Prizes and certificates were distributed to the winners.
