The Student Welfare Council (SWC) in association with Placement cell organized  an “Placement Training Program ” to all final year Degree and PG Students.

Introduction:
A Placement Training Program was successfully conducted at SBMJC, KGF, with the objective of preparing final-year students for employment opportunities. The session focused on enhancing students’ soft skills, self-awareness, and employability.

Chief Address:
Dr. Rekha Sheti, Principal of SBMJC, addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of skill development, confidence building, and active participation in placement training programs.

3. Interactive Activities and Group Exercises

Activities Conducted:
The trainers conducted engaging activities focused on building confidence, improving communication, enhancing teamwork, and developing self-awareness.

Conclusion:
The Placement Training Program was highly beneficial for students, providing practical insights into career readiness and skill enhancement.

Day-2 Placement Training Program on Communication Skills and Goal Setting

Introduction:
A Replacement Training Program was organized with the objective of enhancing students’ employability skills and preparing them for placement opportunities. The session focused on developing communication abilities, goal-setting techniques, and practical engagement through activities.

Objectives of the Program

• To improve students’ communication skills

• To help students understand the importance of goal setting

• To provide practical exposure through activities

• To prepare students for placement and interview processes


Topics Covered:

a) Communication Skills

Students learned verbal and non-verbal communication, body language, active listening skills, and interview communication techniques.

b) Goal Setting

Students were introduced to SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound), along with short-term and long-term planning strategies.

Conclusion:
The placement Training Program was highly beneficial and informative. The sessions conducted by Mr. Naveen and Mr. Nikhil were engaging and practical. Students gained valuable knowledge and skills that will support them in their placement journey and future careers.

A comprehensive placement training program was organized to equip students with essential skills required to face campus recruitment processes confidently. The session aimed to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry expectations by focusing on interview techniques, communication skills, and professional behavior.

• To build confidence and reduce interview anxiety
• To provide knowledge about commonly asked interview questions
• To develop professional etiquette and presentation skills
• To improve problem-solving and critical thinking abilities

Interview Preparation:
• Importance of interview preparation and research about the company
• Resume writing techniques and highlighting strengths
• Professional dress code and grooming standards
• Body language, eye contact, and communication techniques
• Time management and punctuality

Interview Questions:
• Frequently asked HR interview questions such as ‘Tell me about yourself’, ‘Strengths and weaknesses’
• Technical and subject-related questions
• Situational and behavioral questions
• Strategies to structure answers effectively using real-life examples
• Do’s and Don’ts during interviews

Outcome of the Training

The training program resulted in the following outcomes:

International Conference on Emerging Frontiers in Materials Science and Radiation Physics (ICEMR 2025).

The Department of Physical and Life Sciences, SBMJFGC, KGF, in association with the Kolar Physics Research Group, Devanahalli, Karnataka, successfully organized the International Conference on Emerging Frontiers in Materials Science and Radiation Physics (ICEMR 2025) on 22nd December 2025. The conference aimed to bring together researchers, academicians, scientists, and industry professionals to deliberate on recent advances, emerging challenges, and future research directions in materials science and radiation physics. The event provided a vibrant platform for scientific exchange, interdisciplinary interaction, and academic collaboration.

Day One Proceedings

The conference commenced with a formal inaugural session, beginning with a traditional invocation and lighting of the lamp, symbolizing knowledge and enlightenment. The welcome address was delivered by the Convener, Mr. A. Kalai Chalvan, who extended a warm welcome to all dignitaries, speakers, and participants. This was followed by an overview of the conference presented by the Coordinator, Dr. H. C. Manjunatha, who outlined the objectives, themes, and significance of ICEMR 2025.

The Presidential Address was delivered by the Principal, Dr. Rekha Sethi, who emphasized the importance of research-driven education and academic collaboration in emerging scientific domains. The session was further enriched by the Inaugural Addresses of the Chief Guests, Dr. C. Shivakumara, Principal Research Scientist, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, and Dr. M. V. Reddy, Professor, New Graphite World, McGill University, Montreal, Canada. The inaugural session also witnessed the release of the conference proceedings, followed by a vote of thanks proposed by Ms. Louisena Vinoth Priya, Organizing Committee.

The technical sessions began with the Keynote Address by Dr. C. Shivakumara on “Multifunctional Materials for Energy and Environmental Sustainability.” His lecture highlighted the role of multifunctional materials in addressing global energy and environmental challenges, emphasizing material design strategies for sustainable applications. This was followed by Invited Talk 1 by Dr. M. V. Reddy on “Advances in Materials Sciences and Applications,” focusing on recent developments in functional materials and their translational applications. Invited Talk 2 was delivered by Dr. Dhananjaya N, Professor, BMSIT & M, Bangalore, on “Novel Luminescent Materials for Photonic Devices,” emphasizing synthesis, optical properties, and photonic applications.  Invited Talk 3 by Dr. H. C. Manjunatha addressed “Applications of Nanomaterials in X-Ray and Gamma Radiation Shielding,” highlighting the advantages of nanostructured materials in radiation protection.

Day Two Proceedings

Day two featured invited talks focusing on radiation physics and nuclear applications.
Invited Talk 4 by Dr. A. Chandrasekaran, SSN College of Engineering, Chennai, discussed “Natural Radioactivity in Vitrified Tiles from Tamil Nadu, India, and Their Health Implications,” emphasizing radiation exposure assessment and public safety.
Invited Talk 5 by Dr. Shrinivasrao R. Kulkarni, Mynaric Lasercom GmbH, Germany, focused on “Environmental and Space Radiation,” providing insights into radiation measurement and its technological impact. Invited Talk 6 by Dr. Mayeen Khandaker, Sunway University, Malaysia, covered “Cyclotron Production of Theranostic 155^{155}155Tb Radionuclide,” highlighting nuclear reaction mechanisms and medical applications. Invited Talk 7 by Dr. B. Rudraswamy, Former Professor, Bangalore University, addressed “Nuclear Reactor and Nuclear Physics,” offering an overview of reactor physics, safety, and future prospects.

The conference concluded with a formal valedictory session, beginning with a welcome address by Mr. Madhu S., GFGC, Chickballapur. The valedictory address was delivered by the Chief Guest, Dr. Ramakrishna Reddy K., Joint Director, Bangalore Region, Department of Collegiate Education, who emphasized the role of higher education and research conferences in fostering innovation and societal development. This was followed by the presentation of the conference report and the distribution of awards for Best Poster, Best Oral Presentation, and Young Scientist. The vote of thanks was delivered by Mrs. Louisena Vinoth Priya, SBMJC, KGF. The valedictory function concluded with the National Anthem.

In total, 62 research papers were presented through oral and poster sessions, covering diverse areas of materials science and radiation physics. All 71 abstracts were published as Conference Abstract Proceedings with ISBN: 978-93-91930-59-2, reflecting the academic rigor and research depth of ICEMR 2025.

VILLAGE CLEANING PROGRAM-2026

The Department of Commerce of Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain College organized a Village Cleaning Program at Kamasamudram on 14th March 2026 as part of the national cleanliness initiative Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

The main objective of the program was to promote cleanliness, environmental awareness, and social responsibility among students and the local community. Students and staff members from the Department of Commerce actively participated in the activity. Participants were encouraged to contribute towards building a healthy and hygienic environment.

During the program, the students cleaned different areas of the village including streets, public spaces, and surrounding areas. Waste materials such as plastic, paper, and other litter were collected and disposed of properly. The activity helped in improving the cleanliness of the village and also created awareness among villagers about the importance of sanitation and proper waste management.

The students worked enthusiastically and demonstrated teamwork and dedication towards community service. The villagers appreciated the efforts of the participants and supported the initiative.

The Village Cleaning Program was a meaningful experience for the students as it helped them understand the importance of environmental responsibility and community engagement. The event concluded successfully with active participation from all the volunteers, contributing positively to the goals of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

Community Outreach Program – 2026

The common wealth of commerce organised a Community Outreach Program on 14th March 2026 at Sri Athreyas English Medium School with the aim of creating awareness about child protection and encouraging community participation.

The program witnessed active participation from the students and staff of the Department of Commerce, along with the students and staff of Sri Athreyas English Medium School. The event served as a meaningful platform for spreading awareness and strengthening the connection between the institution and the local community.

As part of the outreach program, a video presentation on child abuse awareness was shown to the participants. The presentation emphasized the importance of children raising their voice against any form of child abuse and encouraged them not to remain silent in unsafe situations. It also highlighted the importance of seeking help through the Child Helpline Number 1098, which provides support and assistance to children in need.

Following the presentation, the students took a pledge to raise their voice against child abuse and to stand up for the safety and rights of children. The pledge aimed to empower students to speak up, support their peers, and contribute to creating a safe and protective environment for all children.

To encourage community bonding and participation, a traditional village game – Tug of War was organized during the event. Students enthusiastically participated in the game, which promoted teamwork, unity, and a spirit of cooperation among the participants.

The program concluded successfully with active participation from both institutions. Overall, the Community Outreach Program was informative and engaging, effectively spreading awareness about child protection while also promoting interaction and collaboration within the community.

Shaheed Diwas – 2026

Objective: To comemorate the sacrifice of three extraordinary “freedom fighters”.

On 23rd  March  2026,  Rovers and Rangers Unit Commemorated Shaheed Diwas.

Shaheed Diwas is observed on 23rd March every year to honour the sacrifice of three extraordinary revolutionaries Bhagat Singh, Shivaram Rajguru and Sukhdev Thapar.

This day is dedicated to pay homage for the unsung heroes of our nation. 

The Chief Guest  Dr. Rekha Sethi, Principal, SBMJC, KGF. Emphasized the significance of Shaheed Diwas  and  recalled  the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters and the privileges we enjoy in free India as a result of their struggle.

Mr. Nagesha P Rover Scout Leader,  Ms. Shylu, Rangers  coordinator,  and all senior Rovers and Rangers were present.

Outcome: The Students  had an opportunity to realise the sacrifice of these three extraordinary revolutionaries of India.  Students felt the sense of patriotism, integrity  and national feeling towards mother country.
